Do you know the causes of infertility in females?

Infertility is defined as the condition of trying to get pregnant for nearly one year with frequent intercourse but failed to attain the pregnancy. Infertility can be due to male infertility or female infertility. Out of both the female infertility is difficult to diagnose.

Symptoms:

The first main symptom of the being infertile is inability of a woman to get pregnant, fluctuations in the menstrual cycle that either last too long (more than 35 days) or too short, Irregular periods, absence of periods which indicates that you are not ovulating. Other than the above symptoms an infertile woman may not exhibit other symptoms.

Causes:

Ovarian Disorders:

  • PCOS: It is the most commonly said cause for the female infertility. It leads to hormonal Imbalances and is associated with acne, insulin resistance and obesity.
  • Hypothalamic Dysfunction: The ovulation is stimulated by two hormones namely Follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. Some factors such as excessive body weight, stress and excessive emotions can cause disruption of these hormones which leads to irregular ovulation.
  • Premature Ovarian Failure: This is caused by the premature loss of eggs from the ovary. This condition can also be named as Ovarian Insufficiency.
  • Prolactin: Excessive levels of prolactin can reduce the levels of oestrogen in the body that can lead to infertility.

Tubal Infertility

Damaged or blocked fallopian tubes can prevent the sperm from reaching the egg or may even restrict the movement of fertilized egg into the uterus. The common causes for the damage of fallopian tube includes

  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Surgery to the pelvis
  • Pelvic tuberculosis

Endometriosis

The implantation of the uterus tissue and growing in the other locations is termed as the Endometriosis. It can affect the lining of the uterus and disrupts the fertilized eggs. This is an important reason for the infertility.

Uterine or cervical causes

Several uterine or cervical causes such as benign polyps or tumors, cervical stenosis and uterine abnormalities can cause the impact on the fertility in females.

Sometimes, the reason for the infertility can never be found. Combination of several small factors in both of the partners can cause an unexplained Infertility. This problem can sometimes be corrected with itself. On the other hand the treatment should not be delayed.
